Multi-factor Authentication

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) enhances account security by requiring multiple factors as a conditions of system access. MFA helps to mitigate unauthorized account access and fraud.

Spectrum has developed an integrated solution to provide MFA using a time sensitive one-time PIN (OTP) methodology for its retirement platform web applications.

The OTP is sent to a user via:

  • a SMS message (plain text message) to a mobile telephone number,
  • verbally using a voice call,
  • email to an email address, or
  • the Google Authenticator app.

The user will be prompted and required to type the OTP into a form on the website to complete the authentication process.
